Registration & Licensing FAQ's

Listed below are the most common AccountEdge licence questions and information.


AccountEdge Trial Period

All newly installed AccountEdge products provide an initial 30 day trial period on every computer. The trial version is the full version of the product, limited to 30 days use.

After the 30 day trial period all products require registration, whether you are a new customer, upgrading from an earlier version of AccountEdge, or moving AccountEdge to a new computer.

How many computers can be registered?

You can register AccountEdge on as many computers for which you have an AccountEdge service agreement.

Additional AccountEdge registrations require the purchase of additional licences.

Moving Licences Between Computers

To transfer a registration from one computer to another, you will need to deactivate the licence from the currently registered computer and then activate the software on your other computer.  This can be done as often as you require.

Registration Messages

The following list provides solutions and information about the most common registration messages.


'Maximum number of licences installed'

The full message is:  'Maximum number of licences install.  You can deactivate other licences and then try again.'

At any one time, you can register AccountEdge on as many computers as your Service Agreement allows.  If you would like to register AccountEdge on more than one computer at a time, you will need to purchase additional workstation licences.

If you cannot deactivate a previously registered computer, or you require addtional licences, please contact the Ledger One team. 

'Your licence could not be renewed, only licences with a valid service agreement can be renewed'

This message indicates that you have not yet purchased a further Service Agreement renewal for AccountEdge.

Check the Licence Expires date in the Registration window.  If the expiry date does not reflect your most recent renewal extension, please contact the Ledger One team.

'The serial number entered is not associated with the software'

Ensure you have entered the correct serial number in the registration window. Also ensure that the product you've installed matches that of your Service Agreement. For example, if you have a Service Agreement for AccountEdge Pro but are attempting to register AccountEdge NE, you will receive this error.

You will also receive this error if you are attempting to register a version of the software from a different country to that of your Service Agreement. For example, if you have a serial number for the UK version of AccountEdge, you will not be able to register a US or Canadian version of the product. 

'The serial number entered is associated with an older version of the software'

You may be attempting to register a newer version of the product than the one associated with your serial number.  Please contact the Ledger One team to confirm the status of your Service Agreement.
